Home remedies for laryngitis

Laryngeal pain is very often caused by problems with the voice. It often appears in adults who strain their voice, but laryngeal irritation may also result from being infected with viruses, bacteria, or allergies. How is an irritated larynx different from an ordinary sore throat, and what are some home remedies for laryngitis?

The symptoms of laryngitis are often exacerbated by problems with the voice. It usually accompanies people who professionally use their own voices a lot. Often, problems in the tracheal area accompany singers, actors, teachers, lecturers, radio broadcasters, and university lecturers. Diseases of the larynx in adults usually start with hoarseness, which over time can turn into temporary loss of voice.

Laryngitis is often confused with a sore throat, which is a completely different ailment. Pharyngitis is associated with a dry mouth or a scratchy feeling in the throat. It is also very difficult for saliva to swallow. Of course, it is worth going to a doctor who will professionally select medications for your problem. But what if you have to wait for an appointment? Home remedies for laryngitis come with help!

Humidification of rooms and inhalations for the larynx

Home methods of treating the larynx include proper air humidification. Invest in a good quality humidifier for this purpose. However, if you cannot afford it, simply put a wet towel on the radiator. Thanks to this "patent", a lot of water vapor will get into the respiratory tract without evaporating into the atmosphere. This is the way that works best for adults by far. It is also worth using the method as home remedies for a sore throat.

Home inhalations on the larynx are also very effective. If you notice symptoms of laryngitis, inhalation may be useful. Me to prepare it?

  • Pour hot water into the pan.
  • Add essential oil to it (e.g. rosemary, pine, anise, mint, and eucalyptus).
  • Lean over the vessel and inhale the escaping vapors (about a quarter of an hour).

Equally effective is saline in combination with hyaluronic acid. However, you should not use this method while you are pregnant. In that case, it will be better to buy aromatic patches as it will simply be safer.

Garlic and onion syrup for laryngeal pain

Onions and garlic are vegetables that are used to treat many ailments. And yes, they will work, for example, as home remedies for cough, angina, and sore throat, but also larynx diseases in adults. Garlic is a natural antibiotic that will perfectly cope with all kinds of infections and inflammations. No wonder it has been used in natural medicine for many years. Garlic is also safe during pregnancy - it is worth consuming it, even if it is "smuggled", into various meals, eg added to dinner.

When it comes to syrup, you don't need a professional medicine - you just need to prepare a specimen from… onions! It's also a great syrup for tracheitis! Onions support the immune system, so laryngitis should disappear faster. It is enough that:

  • You will cut the onion into feathers.
  • You arrange the sliced onion alternating with sugar.
  • You will put it all in a jar.

You will leave the jar on the radiator overnight. And it's ready! On the second day you will have your natural tracheal pain syrup and the irritated larynx will be greatly relieved by it.

Herbal rinses

Home treatments for laryngitis also rely on herbal rinses that you can prepare at home. With their help, you will moisturize the mucosa and rinse off bacteria that are even in food debris. It is enough to rinse the throat with them 4 times a day to make the larynx less irritated. It is best to choose herbs that have a disinfecting and anti-inflammatory effect, such as:

  • Plantain,
  • marjoram,
  • sage,
  • chamomile,
  • thyme

All you need to do is pour a bag of dried herbs (about cup of boiling water) and brew it for a quarter of an hour - and then gargle. Some people also recommend rinsing with baking soda, but it may not be a good idea for laryngitis - especially if the rinse is used too often and too… heavily. It will be best to always use home remedies for laryngitis wisely. Rinses must not differ from body temperature - otherwise you will have more harm than good with natural treatment.

Remember that…

In the event of no improvement or deterioration of your health, be sure to see a doctor as soon as possible! The above tips are traditional home treatments, not medical science backed by research. Therefore, using them cannot be an alternative to using standard medical services and medical consultations!
