Interesting facts from the last months

In a report prepared by scientists from the University of Cambridge, it can be read that a biological weapon will be created soon, which, thanks to the analysis of human DNA, will only affect people of a specific ethnic group.

The great advances in science made in recent years, such as the development of genetic engineering and artificial intelligence, for example, have many benefits, but have also opened the door to new threats. In a report published by the University of Cambridge, experts call on policymakers to "protect their citizens" and prepare for potential devastating pandemics caused by new biological weapons.

The report also highlights bird flu, which has the potential to become "unstoppable". The authors warned that the consequences of building an intelligent biological weapon that could wreak havoc on its own could be catastrophic. The researchers asked the UK government to appoint a minister of national risk to closely monitor this area.

The report also calls for an overview of the greatest threats to the UK and the world as a whole, and a review of current prevention strategies. In addition to biological factors, other critical threats such as asteroid strikes and nuclear terrorism were also highlighted.

The search for extraterrestrial life has so far been limited to using terrestrial samples as reference material, which essentially meant seeking life "as we know it". For astrobiologists seeking life on other planets, there simply are no tools to predict "life in forms we do not know."

However, in a new study, a team of bioinformatics has set out to work around this limitation by identifying universal patterns in the chemistry of living organisms that are not specific to specific biological molecules. These discoveries provide new ways to predict features of extraterrestrial life whose biochemistry sets them apart from life as we know it on Earth.

In their new work, a group led by Dylan Gagler, a graduate of the University of Arizona in the USA and a bioinformatics specialist at NYU Langone Health Medical Center at New York University, attempted to search for general statistical patterns in the functioning of living organisms without being linked to specific biological molecules.

To this end, the team, using the Integrated Microbial Genomes and Microbiomes database, examined a range of enzymes found in bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes, and was able to discover a new type of biochemical universality by identifying statistical patterns in enzyme biochemical functions that are common to all living organisms. By making this generalization, they confirmed the statistical patterns resulting from functional principles.

According to the authors, the resulting general statistical patterns may be inherent in life forms made up of molecules that differ from biological molecules that we encounter on Earth.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are characters from the Apocalypse of St. John is part of the New Testament. According to the description, they are to set off before the Last Judgment. According to an old tradition, the names of the four horsemen are: Pestilence, War, Hunger and Death. The plague is what has happened for the last 2 years, and the war is going on in Ukraine, so are we already in the last days and we will inevitably face hunger and then death?

In the revelation of Saint John, describing the end of the world, the main role is played by the "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse", who come to earth one by one in the following order: Pestilence - War - Hunger - Death.

The events of the third decade of the 21st century make some people think that the first horseman of the apocalypse was the coronavirus plague, and just as we thought it was over, the second horseman War suddenly appeared, and further horsemen of the apocalypse hunger and death would follow.

It doesn't take much from War to Famine. Perhaps the real global horror will begin soon - world hunger is inevitable as Russia and Ukraine are the main producers of wheat. Russian grain is currently bought by the Chinese, and there will be no Ukrainian harvest in the future, because it is impossible to sow fields during military operations.

The four horsemen symbolically represent the various events that will happen at the end of the centuries.

The name of the fourth and last horseman is Death, as stated explicitly in the text of the Apocalypse (Rev 6: 8). Unlike the other three horsemen, there is no mention of him wielding a weapon or other object, but in pictures and paintings, he usually carries a scythe, sword, or other killing implement.

Looking at the night sky, we often wonder about our lonely existence in a vast outer space. We still don't know if there is another life in this abyss. What if our universe is empty and dead? Why haven't we detected any foreign radio signals yet? Could it be that deep within this vast universe there are no other intelligent civilizations? Or maybe extraterrestrials hide their presence and secretly watch over us?

The famous American radio astronomer John Ball found answers to these questions. In 1973, he created the cosmic zoo hypothesis in which he proposed that extraterrestrial civilizations are always close to us, but behave as if they did not exist. They follow the life of the Earthlings because our planet is the site of their research experiment.

In the distant past, a highly developed civilization of alien humanoids brought to Earth millions of species of biological creatures. Here, these creatures struggle to survive and undergo rapid evolutionary development. Our planet is like a space zoo with animals from several neighboring galaxies. Being in the same biosphere has taught these disparate creatures to adapt to an unknown habitat and live in symbiosis with each other, maintaining the delicate balance of the Earth's ecosystem.

Earth is a fantastic reserve where the strangest forms of life are evolving. In the extreme conditions of their world, the tiny animals of our planet turned into huge and powerful monsters, and the most massive land animals became just a forest mouse. The earth is far from the only scientific reserve of an alien civilization. There are hundreds of such planets, inhabited by a variety of biological species of cosmic life.

After the planetary zoo is filled with various animals, invisible humanoids study their behavior without interfering with the events of their lives. They have unlimited mental abilities, thanks to which they monitor not only the physical condition, but also the mental condition of their pupils. With the help of this skill, we are constantly watched by representatives of an alien civilization, both in space and on the surface of our planet. There may be millions of alien scientists on Earth, but their presence eludes our consciousness. We see them, but we are not aware of it. Being in our field of view, they remain invisible to us.

Alien planes and bases are also hidden from all inhabitants of the Earth, for example in the interior of volcanoes. Perhaps the mind of Earthlings is too primitive to perceive super developed beings from the distant cosmos. However, sometimes our mind stops deceiving us and shows us the true reality of what is happening. We see strange planes with fantastic shapes that cannot be compared with the external appearance of the air transport we have created. Many researchers of paranormal phenomena believe that this phenomenon is a clear confirmation of the cosmic zoo hypothesis.

Perhaps alien civilizations are deliberately breaking the basic principles of their secret activities, suggesting their existence to us? It is unlikely that we will solve this mystery just before our co-minds find us worthy of knowing this hidden truth.

In 1665, the creator of the world's first pendulum clock, Dutch physicist Christiaan Huygens, observed something unusual. With two such clocks hanging on one wall in front of him, he discovered that no matter how the pendulums started to move, in about 30 minutes they would synchronize with each other and begin to swing in the opposite direction. According to Huygens' reports, it took the two pendulums about half an hour to achieve this synchronization. Huygens described this strange phenomenon as "the compassion of two clocks."

For centuries, specialists have tried to find a logical explanation for this phenomenon. Mathematician Henrique Oliveira from the University of Lisbon suggested a few years ago that sound pulses sent from one clock to another, e.g. through the wall they hang on, might explain this mysterious phenomenon. It turns out, however, that the explanations from the creator of the pendulum clocks himself may be true.

The first formal attempt to explain the synchronized movement of pendulum clocks was an analysis by the Dutch mathematician Diederik Korteweg in 1906. Further progress in the study of this mysterious phenomenon took place only in the Soviet Union in the 1980s. Working at the Mekhanobr Institute in what was then Leningrad, Iliya Izraelilevich Blehman recreated Huygens' experiment using two small pendulum clocks placed on a common wall.

All of these studies helped shed some light on the matter. The clocks transmit energy to each other through the coupling rod in the form of mechanical vibrations. The clocks begin to move out of phase, in other words, the vibration exerted by one pendulum clock on the coupling rod is counteracted by the vibration exerted by the other. However, many questions remain unanswered. What are the "minimum" requirements for self-synchronization? Will any pair of pendulum clocks eventually sync - or only certain types? Can more than two pendulums be synchronized? It was only from the beginning of this millennium that scientists began to take up this topic.

Over the years, it has been established, for example, that clocks that are placed on the same wooden table and begin to move synchronously, losing 47 seconds per hour, or almost 19 minutes a day. However, even the 21st century does not give us all the answers to this phenomenon. Most of the mathematical models are not complete because they do not take into account all the deformations experienced by the wooden base on which the clocks hang.

Research on this issue also has a practical dimension. They can also shed light on many of the similar timing effects in living organisms. For example, the human body has many different types of oscillating rhythms - including breathing, heartbeat, neuronal activity, and blood perfusion.
