How to eat healthy and not go bankrupt?

Have you heard that expensive food costs so much that few people can afford it? It is a myth that is repeated all the time, so it should be dealt with once and for all. It is true that most of us can eat healthily and not spend a fortune. What to do to save on products and at the same time on money in your wallet?

Food manufacturers use various tricks to attract customers. Some tricks are extremely successful because customers actually fall for them. One of the most iconic tricks is to visually increase the number of different products, as well as deliberately lowering the grammage. How not to be deceived? Let's assume that two liters of healthy juices is standing next to each other on a store shelf. It might seem that they have exactly the same amount of liquid - after all, it says on the packaging how much this juice weighs. However, when you read the composition or label, you may find that one of the juices actually has a capacity of 1 liter, but the other one is 100 ml less. Why should you lose money on a healthy product that you want to pay for? Therefore, it is important to read the composition, but also to compare prices not per packaging, but per kilogram or liter of product, and sometimes also per item (when selected elements are sold in this form). Of course, you also need to remember about the quality of the chosen product - more is not always better.

There is nothing to hide, most of us nowadays focus on comfort. We are busy and busy so much that we often don't have the time or the inclination to compose and put together different ingredients. We buy ready-made muesli, salad mixes, spices, and other products. However, it should be realized that for the ready-made food sold in this way, we often pay even several times more than we would pay for composing it on our own in the comfort of our own apartment. Not only do we lose money in this way, but also food mixed by producers is often not so valuable. In theoretically healthy mixes, e.g. muesli, other substances appear that lower the nutritional value of the product. To breakfast cereals, which in theory are supposed to be healthy, sugar is added to enhance the taste, but extremely harmful to the body. Salt is then sprinkled into the spice mixes. Isn't it better to prepare these products yourself? It takes only a few minutes of work, and you can get much healthier food without paying for chemicals and additives that reduce the value of food. Are you buying expensive canned lentils? This can be changed too! Bet on a cheaper dry one that you cook yourself. Not only will you save money, but you will also eat healthier and more tasty food.

Food that is expensive does not always mean that it is of the best quality. Reading and comparing two similar products, it often turns out that the half cheaper one has exactly the same composition as the expensive one. Where does this difference come from? When buying an expensive and prestigious product from a popular manufacturer, we usually just pay for the brand. Perhaps a given product is indeed extremely valuable, but is it really irreplaceable? Therefore, it is always worth comparing the squads with each other, because this way you can save a lot of money. The same applies to prestigious products that are currently conquering the world of healthy eating and are recommended by famous nutritionists. Surely you've heard about spirulina or goji berries before, right? They are very valuable, but they are not essential to our daily menu. Instead of adding them to your meals every day and spending a lot of money, it's better to put them on a side dish only and consume them from time to time. There are a number of equally valuable products for which we will pay much less.

If you want to eat healthily, do not buy prepackaged products in the season when fresh vegetables and fruits are available. It will be much better to take them from proven suppliers and from some quality sources. In the season the cheapest are carrots, parsley, or radish, but also other vegetables, and some fruits. So why overpay for prepackaged? This is just one point. The second thing is that vegetables and fruits after harvest are much fresher and have more vitamins and valuable minerals. Therefore, it is worth taking advantage of the moment and eating healthy.

Healthy items such as smoothies and freshly squeezed fruit juices are often available at the grocery store. There are also homemade products and ready-made cream soups, which often cost a lot. Why overpay when you can prepare healthy food of this type at home? It is enough to invest in various devices that are used for this purpose. Such an investment usually pays off, especially if you eat healthy every day. It is worth buying, for example, a mixer, blender, steamer, squeezer, ham cooker, or a smokehouse. Of course, there are many more devices of this type and you can choose them according to your current needs. Don't forget, the cost of the purchase will pay off quickly - so you shouldn't worry too much about the investment price.

Throwing food away is one of the biggest mistakes of our time that we regularly commit. Sometimes we have too many potatoes, stale bread, and a few carrots or apples. Not knowing what to do with the leftovers, we often get rid of them mindlessly. Meanwhile, products that theoretically can not do anything anymore, you can actually make a lot of tasty food. In fact, a little creativity is enough to prepare something delicious. You can make pancakes out of too many potatoes, minced chops or croutons from stale bread, and delicious cakes from carrots and apples. Not only will it be healthy and at home, but also cheap.

This point may sound trivial, but many people still forget to freeze excess food. If you don't feel like doing something quickly with the three bananas left in one bunch, you can freeze them. Just peel them and slice them to make a delicious cocktail or banana ice cream. You can also store seasonal fruit this way. Why overpay for them when they are no longer available in autumn or winter? You can always freeze, for example, strawberries or blueberries and enjoy them at any time of the year. Not only will you always have healthy products on hand, but you will also save a lot of money than if you had to buy fresh fruit every time. It is worth adding that not only blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and raspberries can be stored in the freezer. You can also freeze vegetables (e.g. cauliflower and broccoli), as well as bread and various types of soups. When you have excess left over, just put the food in the freezer.

There is no denying that meat is not the cheapest product - at least not good quality meat. It's tasty, yes. However, it should not be eaten every day. Not only is it unhealthy for the body (fatty meat can weigh it down a lot), but also buying meat frequently can deplete your wallet. So try to divide your weekly meals so that at least half of them are vegetarian. How about a dinner of seasonal vegetables and groats? Or maybe you choose soy chops instead of minced cutlets? Not only will you relieve your body, but you will also save a lot of money. Soy chops are very cheap, and vegetables are light, nutritious, and tasty. It is really worth looking for meat substitutes and eating vegetarian meals as often as possible. You will feel a huge difference in your daily activities, especially when you normally eat very fatty meat every day. It will be much easier for you, which will be appreciated by the body and rewarded with a good mood.

Many of us still do not order products in the online store, considering it a lazy idea. Meanwhile, it is a really fantastic opportunity that, unfortunately, is not yet sufficiently appreciated. Why is it worth buying online in supermarkets? You only pay a few zlotys for the delivery of food products, and sometimes purchases are delivered for free as part of the promotion. When going to a store in the city center, we often spend much more money on fuel or on driving to the market. Sometimes we also waste a lot of time, especially when the store is far away and we are stuck in traffic. The most important advantages that will allow you to eat healthy and cheaper, are above all ... the lack of temptation. Not being able to wander between store shelves, we only buy what we have planned. No contact with marketing traps means no unnecessary products in the basket. So there is a huge chance that we will only order what we really need while sitting in front of the computer. If we do not see unhealthy products lying directly in front of our eyes, we are rather reluctant to reach for them.

It is good to have products at home that do not spoil too quickly. In the cupboard, you can stay longer, e.g. pasta, rice, flour or groats. When you choose to buy a large package, you will most likely pay significantly less than if you buy several smaller products from the same manufacturer. Why overpay? Large packages of some dry products and their cost are spread over several months, which should always be borne in mind when buying. It is also a great idea for large families. The accumulated supplies will allow you to prepare a delicious and nutritious dinner for little money. Instead of going too fast food with your household, spending a lot of money, and eating unhealthily, it is better to "dig out" the supplies from the pantry and cook something healthy and tasty together. Not only is it possible to provide many valuable nutrients to the body in this way, but also to unite with the family by cooking together. Advantages only!
