Sunburns on the face or body skin are most often caused by inadequate staying on the beach or prolonged exposure to the sun without protection. A solarium can also contribute to the fact that after tanning the skin becomes… irritated. Fortunately, there are home remedies for sunburn that can help ease the pain of sunburn. So how to alleviate the burning body and face? You will find out in the article below!
In order to select the appropriate treatment, it is necessary to skillfully recognize the degree of burn. There are three levels:
1st degree of sunburn - is by far the most common and affects the outer layer of the skin. Usually, sunburned skin turns red, and hot and may peel later.
2nd degree of sunburn - affects the epidermis and dermis. Numerous blisters and swellings as well as epidermal necrolysis appear on it then. In this case, home treatment may no longer be of any use - go to the doctor who knows best what helps in this case.
3rd degree of sunburn - occurs not only on the epidermis and dermis but also in subcutaneous tissues and nerves. A burned person may feel as if their skin is… dead. It will not show any reaction to touch, and this is by damaging sensory receptors. Consultation with a doctor will be necessary.
Of course, instead of easing the pain, it is better to… prevent it! Therefore, it is always worth using creams with a high UV filter - about 30 minutes before going out into the sun. However, if you forget to do it and notice redness on your body after returning, for example, from the beach, be sure to get off the sun! Hide in the shade after sunbathing and try to immediately cool the burned area. Cooling down your face or body from sunburn is a good way to stop the process of further tissue damage. A cool shower or cold compresses for sunburn from… fresh water will work very well. This is very important, especially if you get burned at the seaside. Unfortunately, cooling yourself with salt water is not a good idea. So be sure to take a shower to lower the temperature of the nerves in your skin - you will quickly get rid of the pain!
However, remember not to treat your body with too icy water as you can get a thermal shock! The water should always be a bit lukewarm - at least at the very beginning. After a few minutes of rinsing your body, you can lower its temperature. The water must be cool, not cold! Such a shower should last a maximum of 15 minutes.
Remember that you cannot lubricate the burned skin with heavy or greasy preparations! The exception may be, for example, honey, which has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, it will be worth using sunburn compresses made of kefir, buttermilk, or yogurt. Such a natural cream for burns will perfectly prevent blisters, but also perfectly moisturize the skin and bring almost immediate relief.
What's more, kefir, yogurt, and buttermilk contain a lot of protein and vitamins (A, D, E) that can instantly regenerate skin damage. Apply the selected product on gauze and put it on the reddened areas. You can also use curdled milk. However, remember not to use sweet buttermilk or sweetened yogurt - unfortunately, they can exacerbate the inflammation of sunburned skin!
Home remedies for sunburn are also products that we have in our ... homes. It has great properties for burned skin, for example:
- egg protein - contains cysteine, which effectively inhibits inflammation, has antiviral and bactericidal properties. It is enough to smear the gauze with raw and cool egg white, and then treat the burned area with it. Hold such a compress for about a quarter of an hour. Be sure to get rid of even the smallest bit of yolk, because the method will not work!
- mashed potatoes - fresh potato juice will ease the pain and prevent blisters from appearing on the skin. Put the prepared mush in the burned area and cover it with gauze. Keep the compress on the body for about half an hour.
- green cucumber - it will protect and nourish the skin thanks to its antioxidants and vitamin C. Put cucumber slices on the burned areas and leave them there for about half an hour. This method is especially effective on… sunburned face!
Remember that…
In the event of no improvement or deterioration of your health, be sure to see a doctor as soon as possible! The above tips are traditional home treatments, not science-based medical knowledge. Therefore, using them cannot be an alternative to using standard medical services and medical consultations!
