If you are not a beach-type traveler, you should definitely read this article. Especially when you love the adrenaline in your life. There are many tourist attractions in the world, which travel thousands of kilometers for adventurous tourists. How about a walk on the glass bridge? How about a bath at the top of a waterfall? Well, unless you prefer to blaze a trail in places straight from a horror movie? You can find all such attractions in the table below.
1. Hussaini Bridge, Pakistan
It is considered one of the most dangerous bridges in the world. The Hussaini Bridge stretches between the rocks, lazily rocking over Lake Borit in Pakistan. The length of the bridge is approx. 200 meters. Tourists come to this place just to be able to walk around the unusual, dubious quality wooden structure. For the natives, however, crossing the Hussaini Bridge is completely normal and does not make any impression on them. Even though the planks are curved and irregularly spaced and the structure sway with every gust of wind, the locals walk the bridge with grace and ease - often with a lot of luggage on their backs. They have no choice. For the natives, this is the only way to get to a nearby town.
Crossing the Hussaini Bridge requires extraordinary concentration and physical fitness. The balance can be disturbed with every, even the slightest, a gust of wind. For some, the structure hanging over the lake looks like the worst nightmare. For those who love adrenaline, the Hussaini Bridge is an attraction that they will not pass by indifferently.
2. Mount Hua Shan, China
For the Chinese, Hua Shan is a holy place. In the past, Daoists used to come here to achieve immortality. Today, tourists from all over the world come to the same mountains. However, not necessarily to wait for a miracle. They come to eastern China to take the world's most dangerous route. The route takes approx. 6 kilometers. The short trail is made of narrow boards that are pressed together against a vertical rock. In order to get through it, tourists have to fasten on a thick chain with each subsequent step. It is estimated that about 100 tourists die there each year.
While we're still in China, I will mention one more attraction - the glazed Coiling Dragon Cliff trail in the Zhangjiajie National Park (Hunan Province). It is the tallest glass bridge in the world, 100 meters long and suspended over 180 meters above the ground. Some visitors have the impression that the glass bridge is about to burst under their weight. That is why it is not difficult to find crying and even screaming tourists here.
3. Snake Island, Brazil
Ilha da Queimada Grande, known as the Snake Island, is located off the coast of Brazil - about 150 km from downtown Sao Paulo. The island is charming and exotic, but the Brazilian authorities have banned tourists from visiting it. Well, unless you have a special permit. But even with such permission, the visit is closely monitored by the Brazilian government. Where did this decision of the authorities come from? Well, the island is inhabited by a terrifying number of snakes. It is estimated that for every one square meter of the island there are up to ... five reptiles. Most of them are poisonous, and the most dangerous variety among them is the eagle owl. For those suffering from ophidiophobia, this will certainly not be the best attraction.
The Snake Island is inhabited by a total of about 4,000 reptiles. Apparently, they came here due to pirates who once released snakes in order to protect their valuables. However, only a local legend says that. Snakes actually appeared on the island when the water level rose many thousands of years ago, separating the island from mainland Brazil.
4. Sky-high entertainment in the United States
An interesting glass structure has been mounted on the 70th floor of one of the tallest buildings in Los Angeles (US Bank Towel). Tourists can take advantage of an unusual attraction here, namely, go one floor below ... a glass slide. skyline, as this terrifying attraction is called, is located on the outside of the building. If the height of the Hua Shan trail seems terrible, the location of the glass slide can scare you even more. skyline is located as much as 300 meters above the ground. The upside is the fact that you can certainly see the city's panorama in a beautiful way.
In the United States, every adrenaline fan will find something for himself. Another unusual attraction in the USA is the Insanity carousel, located in Las Vegas. The carousel is located at an altitude of 270 meters, on top of the Stratosphere Casino. The arms of the merry-go-round extend about 20 meters beyond the edge of the building, spinning at a speed of almost 70 km / h. If you like to admire the panoramas of big cities in extreme conditions, maybe it will be worth trying?
5. Devil's Pool, Victoria Falls, Zambia
Some say it's the most dangerous pool in the world. There is a lot of truth in this, especially since the Devil's Pool is located on the edge of Victoria Falls, at 110 meters high. However, you cannot bathe there at any time of the year. You can only dive into the pool in the dry season, when the Zambezi River flows slowly, so tourists are not in danger of being swept away by its current and falling into the abyss of the waterfall.
A swim in the Devil's Pool will be an amazing injection of adrenaline for anyone who likes to take risks while traveling. The very climb to the waterfall causes a lot of emotions. And what about taking a bath on the rim of the impressive Zambezi canopy!
6. Preikestolen, Norway
It is probably the most famous rock shelf in Norway. Every year Preikestolen is visited by approximately 200,000 travelers. It is not one of the many attractions that have solid security. There are none here at all! So you should be very careful on the cliff, especially in strong winds, because then it is not difficult to get involved in an accident.
The most popular Norwegian cliff measures over 600 meters. The height is impressive, isn't it? For some, however, the mere fact of climbing such a huge cliff ... is not enough. Daredevils (or rather fools) risk their lives by taking pictures of themselves right on the edge of Preikestolen. All this to impress your Instagram friends.
7. Death Road, Bolivia
El Camino de la Muerte, known as the Death Road, is one of Bolivia's greatest tourist attractions. In 1995, this road was recognized as the most dangerous high-mountain route in the world. Formerly, the Death Road was a connection between the town of La Paz and the jungle. Today, bicycle tours are organized here, of course only for the brave traveler
The bike ride down the route is 64 kilometers long. There are sharp turns along the way, as well as high elevation differences. About three hundred fatal accidents are recorded here every year. However, there are still many daredevils who dream of covering this route by bike.
8. Suicide Forest, Japan
Aokigahara, or Japan's famous Suicide Forest, is not an extreme pastime. There are no altitude traps, no swimming over the precipice of a waterfall, or walking on the glass surface. There is, however, a terrifying silence that gives the chills of many daredevils. Suicide Forest, as the name suggests, is a place with a very bad reputation. Mainly because it is in this forest that up to a hundred people commit suicide each year. Thus, it is the second, after Golden Gate (San Francisco) place in the world in terms of the number of committed suicides.
Since 1971, local police patrols have regularly scoured the woods for the bodies of suicides. As a rule, they find them suspended in trees. In 2003, people came to Aokigahara to end their lives so often that the media stopped informing the Japanese about the number of suicides who died there. They hoped that thanks to this, the Forest of Suicides would no longer be associated with death. There are also signs on the edge of the forest to discourage people from taking their own lives.
9. Doll Island, Mexico
Isla de las Muñecas is Doll Island that is located just outside Mexico City. The place is located in a wet area, crossed by numerous water channels. You can move on them by boat. Legend has it that a certain Julian Santana Barrera, who lived alone on this island, one day heard the cry of a drowning child. He ran to save them, but it was too late. Only a doll of a drowned girl drifted on the surface of the water. Barrera hung the doll on a tree to pay respect to the girl. As time passed, the man heard the children sobbing more and more. Each time he hung a different doll on the tree. Soon decorating trees with toys became his bizarre obsession.
There are hundreds of scary and dirty dolls all over the island. Some of them do not have limbs, eyes, or even heads. The island has turned into a place straight from the worst horror. What happened to Julian? In 2001, he died of unclear causes - exactly in the same place where he once tried to save a drowning girl. If you are a fan of horror movies and like to be afraid, you just have to come here. After visiting Puppet Island, you will surely not fall asleep peacefully.
