Daria Młynarczyk – a 14-year-old who disappeared on her way to the bookstore

Daria Młynarczyk was born in 1981. She lived with her parents in Piła in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. The teenager was a typical introvert. Relatives described her as calm and taciturn. She didn't like the company of her friends, she felt best at home. Sometimes her parents encouraged their daughter to spend some time with her peers, but she usually didn't want to. Daria liked to learn and achieved very good results at school. She did not cause any educational problems.

On November 9, 1995, the girl decided to go to a nearby bookstore. English classes were starting soon and that day she was supposed to pick up a previously ordered textbook for learning the language. She was very excited about the opportunity to learn a foreign language. The girl suggested to a few friends that they go to the bookstore together, but their peers already had other plans for that afternoon. So Daria had to walk only 20 meters, get on the bus, and go two stops.

The teenager had also agreed with her mother that they would go home together by bus. Daria did not show up at the bus stop at the agreed time, so Mrs. Maria went alone. The woman was not particularly concerned about this situation, because she thought that her daughter had returned, for example on foot, or had lost track of time while looking through books. It was also a time when almost no one in Poland had a mobile phone. The 14-year-old could not inform her mother about the change of plans.

However, minutes passed, which turned into hours, and the girl still did not return home. Finally, evening came and the parents decided to report the disappearance to the police. The reaction of the officers was as unfortunately often happens. The police did not show much interest and assumed that Daria had run away from home. However, such a scenario did not fit the teenager's character at all.

The parents decided to act on their own. At first, they called all the hospitals in Piła, but none of them admitted Daria. The relatives also contacted the girl's friends, but none of them had seen the teenager after school. They also checked the nearby shops and restaurants, but no one remembered the girl. When two days had passed since the disappearance, the police received a report.

The search began not only in Piła and throughout Poland, but foreign leads were also checked. Specifically, it was apparently Germany and Austria. However, it was not possible to obtain any specific information that would bring investigators closer to solving the mystery. It was not even possible to confirm whether Daria even boarded the bus she was supposed to take to the bookstore.

There have been several theories about what could have happened to the 14-year-old. According to one of them, the girl began to associate with suspicious people who ultimately harmed her. This is an unlikely scenario because her relatives did not notice any change in her daughter's behaviour, and there was no indication that she had started new friendships.

According to another hypothesis, the teenager had an accident as a result of which she lost her memory. This also seems unlikely. Piła is a relatively large city (at that time it had approximately 75,000 inhabitants) and there would certainly have been no shortage of witnesses to a possible accident. In any case, after the accident, someone would probably have found the image of the girl they were looking for.

According to clairvoyant Krzysztof Jackowski, Daria got into a red car or van. The vehicle was supposed to contain a man with a moustache, whom the 14-year-old knew and called "uncle". This detail seems interesting and although I don't believe in clairvoyant "visions", I wonder if this lead was followed up. Jackowski claimed that the girl was murdered and her body was encased in concrete in a building that was undergoing renovation. However, this hypothesis could not be confirmed. The clairvoyant supposedly indicated the area where the body was supposed to be, but it was not possible to find it.

I left the most probable scenario for the end, in my opinion, according to which Młynarczyk was kidnapped between her home and the starting bus stop or between the bookstore and the final bus stop. It is rather unlikely that Daria is still alive, although there were cases of kidnapped people being imprisoned for many years. To this day, however, neither the body of the missing person nor any evidence that would allow solving this mysterious case has been found.

Will this case finally be solved?

The last hope in the Poznań X-Files, which resumed the investigation after many years. It is also worth adding that the Provincial Police Commander in Poznań has offered a reward of PLN 10,000. It is to go to the person who will provide information that will help solve this puzzle. If anyone knows anything about Daria's fate, please contact the police!
