Chris Hardy, a researcher of the history of ancient civilizations, made a controversial thesis in his latest book "The Anunnaki Wars: Nuclear Self-Destruction in Ancient Sumer". He argues that the ancient destruction of the Sumerian civilization, famous for its advanced culture and technology, was caused not so much by a natural catastrophe as the result of a power struggle between the ancient gods known as the Anunnaki.
Hardy, drawing on ancient Sumerian epics, the Book of Genesis, and archaeological evidence such as ancient radioactive skeletons, argues that the Anunnaki, whom he considers alien visitors from the planet Nibiru, contributed to the evolution of humanity through genetic modification. According to Hardy, the Anunnaki created humans to be used as labor on Earth.
However, these gods did not agree on the direction in which humanity's evolution should go. Enki, one of the gods of the Anunnaki, considered the protector of humans, was in conflict with Enlil, who assumed the position of commander of the Earth and waged war against the Enki clan for the future of mankind.
This conflict led to the destruction of five cities in the Jordan plain, including Sodom and Gomorrah, by nuclear weapons. Hardy claims that the bombing was the result of a decision made by the Assembly of Gods, led by Enlil. The effect of nuclear annihilation not only affected the ancient cities, but also led to the collapse of the Sumerian civilization itself.
Hardy's controversial theory is supported by translations of ancient Sumerian texts, including the "Epic of Erra" and "Lament of Ur", which describe nuclear warfare, and by archaeological discoveries that have revealed traces of a massive explosion. Christopher R. Moore, an archaeologist who conducted research in the ancient city of Tall el-Hammam, speculated that a meteorite could have been the cause of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, but this cannot be conclusively confirmed.
Hardy's theory, although controversial and incompatible with mainstream science, reminds us of the extraordinary mystery and unknown past of our planet. This is one of many attempts to understand our origins and explain mysterious phenomena that continue to challenge modern science.
