The US president saw a UFO. Unusual Confessions of Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, is known for many unpopular decisions. Many people, however, remember him, especially from the fact that he did not hide that he had seen a UFO with his own eyes. A memorable sighting occurred in 1969 while he was serving as governor of Georgia.

The sighting happened while Carter was waiting outside a Lions Club meeting in Leary, Georgia, with about 10 other people. Suddenly, a bright white light appeared in the sky, which he initially mistook for a burning airplane. The object seemed to change shape and move erratically across the sky. This fact alone precluded it from being a weather balloon or any conventional air vehicle.

The former US president estimated that the UFO was about 300 to 1,000 feet away and was levitating about 1,000 feet above the ground. The observation lasted several minutes before the object disappeared from view. Carter wasn't the only person to see the vehicle. Several other people at the Lions Club meeting also reported seeing a strange light in the sky, and local newspapers received many reports about it.

Carter described the object as "luminous" and light blue in color. The politician estimated that he was about the size of the moon. After the sighting, Carter reported his story to the International UFO Bureau, a private organization that collects sighting reports. He also asked the US Air Force to investigate the sighting, but the explanation for what lit up the sky that night has never been known or revealed.

Carter's UFO sighting became widely known during his 1976 presidential campaign. The man even mentioned her in his book "The Hornet's Nest". Although he remained open to the possibility of extraterrestrial life, he admitted that he had no idea what the object he saw that night was. Rather, he suggested that it was something of earthly origin.
