Ghosts of soldiers, ghastly children, and mysterious demons, all amidst trees and wildlife. Get to know the most haunted forests in Poland. We associate the haunted forests most with American films. It turns out, however, that fans of horror and paranormal phenomena can also successfully find a bit of adrenaline in Poland.
FOREST AROUND HIGH STONE
There is an unexplained story connected with the forest located in the Bardzkie Mountains in the Sudetes. It is said that in June 1966, four boys decided to go on a trip to the vicinity of Wysoki Kamień Mountain, surrounded by a notorious forest. Local residents considered it a haunted place, and at night no one would venture there. No wonder, the High Stone itself looks really scary - at the very top of this mountain, there is a lonely, white rock surrounded by several smaller ones. According to some, it even looks like an altar.
The daredevils wanted to check local rumors and arrange a séance. They did not note any disturbing events at first, so they decided to stop summoning ghosts. At that moment, it was completely silent around them, even the wind had stopped blowing. The fire lit by the boys suddenly went out. After a while, in the dark, they heard the sound of footsteps and saw the outline of a certain being. A mysterious figure began to run around them. Terrified by the sight, they quickly ran away.
However, only two of them returned to the nearby village of Laskówka. The missing persons were searched for a week, but to no avail. Two survivors began to complain of nightmares after the incident. Their dreams were haunted by a mysterious demon named Aargaroth who watched their deaths. Less than 8 days after the trip to the forest, one of the boys who managed to escape disappeared. However, 10 days later, in unexplained circumstances, another one was lost. To this day, it is not known what happened to them.
THE SPIRITUAL WAY IN ISABELIN
The road is located in the forest between Warsaw and Izabelin. Partisan fights took place in this area during the Second World War. Various versions of the story say that at that time the Germans brutally murdered fighting Poles, local residents, or nuns in the forest. After the war, inexplicable things began to happen in the forest, hence the peculiar name of the road running through it. After dark, it is said that mysterious beings such as the ghosts of soldiers, monks, and nuns can be found there. A man on a horse or a woman walking in the company of a headless dog was also seen in the area.
Many mysterious noises can be heard in the forest. Sometimes these are sounds similar to a radio or walkie-talkie playing in the distance, other times the noise of a marching army or the clang of metal weapons. Electronic equipment and some vehicles are damaged in the forest - reportedly, motorcycle and scooter engines suddenly stop working. The forest is characterized by strangely bent trees, especially birch trees, which look as if they are crushed. At night, however, mysterious colorful lights appear in the darkness.
RUDA-ASH FOREST IN ŁÓDŹ
The forest, located in the southern part of Łódź, used to be a popular summer holiday resort. There are still villas where tourists once lived. Currently, some of them are being renovated, others in a deplorable state are decaying, and one is said to be even haunting. We are talking about the villa of Teodor Steigert, located at Popioły Street. During World War II, workers who built bunkers were accommodated there. At its end, they were brutally murdered by the retreating German troops.
Rumors also speak of mysterious disappearances that took place in the forest. After the war, a teacher decided to go for a walk with her pupils. The entire group was never found. Apparently, you can still hear their voices in the forest. Apparently, a woman who, returning from work, decided to shorten her way between the trees, also disappeared there.
One girl also claims that while on a night bike ride, she saw a mysterious man in the woods leaving Steigert's villa swinging a long stick. At first, she thought that a person could be mentally ill. When she looked at him closely, however, she noticed that his eyes were completely white, as if he weren't human.
FOREST IN THE SILESIAN RUDA
A murder was committed in a bunker located in the post-war forest. In 1999, four friends with an interest in the occult decided to use the abandoned place to perform a ritual, which they had done many times in the past. On the night of March 2/3, Tomasz, Robert, Kamil, and Karina went to the forest. The latter two did not know, however, that their friends were planning to make a sacrifice to Satan.
The perpetrators carefully planned the crime, even bought special swords for this purpose that resembled medieval swords. They were to end the ritual with suicide but ultimately did not dare to do so. They are currently serving a life sentence for their crime.
Is he haunted by the horrific crime that took place in the forest? In 2018, a team of YouTubers from the Polish Paranormal TV channel decided to check it. They went to and around the scene of the murder, both day and night. Apparently, the gentlemen heard strange sounds around them, including footsteps. One of them saw ghostly shadows between the trees, and as his companion tried to capture it, the camera suddenly lost focus.
YouTubers were also equipped with sound recorders with which at some point they heard a voice that sounded like a woman. One of the team members also claims that at one point he saw red eyes in the dark. And while it was probably an animal, the group was terrified anyway
FOREST IN KĘDZIERZYN KOŹL
One of the features of the forest in Kędzierzyn Koźle is that there is a large housing estate in its vicinity. In 2008, rumors began to appear among its inhabitants about a prowling nearby. Apparently many people saw there a ghost resembling a bald girl riding a bicycle. Witnesses said that while in the forest they felt sudden changes in temperature.
Where did the apparition come from? There are two versions of the legend among the local residents. One says that the girl was murdered by her father at the end of the war. Under the pretext of having fun together, he dragged her to the forest, killed her, and abandoned her in the swamps. According to other stories, the child was raped and killed by Soviet soldiers. Apparently, the torturers tugged her hair, hence the apparition is bald.
From the very beginning, the subject of spirit aroused great emotions not only among the residents of the estate, as the case was publicized in the largest national media. Children who, accompanied by their parents, visited the local pedagogical and psychological counseling center in large numbers were particularly terrified. Its employees, on the other hand, even wanted to report to the prosecutor's office in 2009, suspecting that someone was intentionally intimidating children. That the ghost was just a cruel joke seems quite likely. At one point, the apparition even had ... an account on the Nasza Klasa portal. The bald girl on a bicycle had as many as 300 friends and a profile picture, she also revealed that she is 97 years old.
