Michael Jackson is a popular singer, dancer, and entertainer whom the world remembered as the King of Pop. He is one of the most outstanding performers in the history of the music world. What are Michael Jackson's greatest hits? What was the singer's career like from the very beginning? Do you know the biography of a famous pop artist? Here are the highlights, awards, famous albums, and songs by Michael Jackson. Neverland Valley Ranch was a former Michael Jackson estate. The famous artist created a huge ranch out of it, which became an amusement park for children. What do the photos of the most famous ranch in California look like? What is the location of Jackson's Park? Why did the singer decide to leave his dream home? Check the most important information and a detailed description of Neverland Valley Ranch.

Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, near Chicago. He was the child of the Jacksons (Joseph and Katherine), an African-American working-class family. My mother played clarinet and piano and was a Jehovah's Witness, while my father was a retired boxer and crane operator. In order to earn a large family, he also played guitar in the local band Falcons. Joseph was very demanding of his children, often using physical violence against them. Apparently, he regularly waited with a belt in his hand until only one of the siblings made the slightest mistake. In 2003, Joseph confessed to hitting Michael.

  • In 1964, Michael and Marlon joined The Jackson Brothers, a band founded by their father that included Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine. The siblings initially played tambourines and congas, but later the father appreciated Jermaine and Michael's vocal talent, "pushing" them to the fore. In 1966, the band won a local youth talent competition and began touring mostly at nightclubs and cocktail bars. The band's growing popularity meant that they soon changed their name to The Jackson 5 - to make it easier to remember. In 1966, the group signed with Motown Records, recording the songs ABC, The Love You Save, I Want You Back and I’ll Be There. The songs topped the Billboard charts. Michael Jackson began trying his solo career by releasing two albums. The audience quickly fell in love with the hit musician.
  • In 1973, the band's album sales dropped. The Jackson 5 signed a contract with another label, and later Jermaine left the band. The group had to change its name to The Jacksons, taking Rand's replacement in place of Jermaine (Michael's younger brother). In the years 1976-1984 the band traveled around the world and gave concerts. It was Michael Jackson who wrote most of the hits at the time. Michael's songs for the band include Can You Feel It or Shake Your Body.
  • In 1978, Michael Jackson moved to New York to play like a scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. The film turned out to be a failure, but Michael met the music composer Quincy Jones there. He influenced the later solo career of the musician, producing 3 Jackson albums (including the groundbreaking Thriller). In 1979, Michael broke his nose while dancing. Rhinoplasty made breathing difficult for him, so later he was operated on several times. We will now try to chronologically present the next greatest music hits and key albums of Michael Jackson.
  • 1979 - Michael Jackson released his fifth solo album, Off the Wall. Popular songs from the album include Rock With You and She's Out Of My Life. The album has sold over 20 million copies worldwide. In 1980, Michael Jackson won his first three American Music Awards. He also won two Billboard Awards ("Best Black Artist and Album") and a Grammy Award for Best Male Vocal.
  • 1982 - the singer released the album Thriller, which turned out to be the most profitable in the history of photography (109 million copies). It was also the first-ever album to feature Michael Jackson's songs alone in the Billboard Top 10 (including "Beat It", "Thriller" and "Billie Jean"). The song "Billie Jean" was associated with the development of a specific moonwalk dance step, invented by Michael Jackson. It became the artist's trademark. The album Thriller was certified Platinum Record 28 times only in the USA. As a result, Jackson was recognized as an icon of world pop culture.
  • 1983 - Michael Jackson signed an advertising contract with Pepsi. During the filming of the commercial, one of the devices exploded and set Jackson's hair on fire. They never grew back in a burned place. Until 1983, Jackson also recorded songs with Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the band Queen. He later toured with his brothers, promoting them as the main star.
  • 1984 - the artist was nominated in 12 categories for the Grammy Award, of which he won the statuette 8 times. In the same year, sales of dolls with the image of Michael Jackson also began. His famous stage garments - the costume from the single "Thriller" and sequin gloves, also became popular.
  • 1985 - Jackson received an invitation to the White House from President Ronald Regan for a personal thank you for lending "Beat It" to a campaign to keep drunk drivers from driving. In the same year, the musician did a lot of charity, incl. with Lionel Richie, recording the single "We Are The World". The song won a Grammy and became one of the best-selling singles of all time (over 20 million units). This year, the singer came into conflict with Paul McCartney (for participation in ATV Music Publishing). The image of Jackson also began to undermine the press, saying that Michael sleeps in the oxygen chamber to keep the age. Some people started to call him "Wacko Jacko", which in Polish means "crazy Jackson".
  • 1986 - Michael Jackson, taking advantage of the steadily growing interest in himself, played for Georg Lucas. The movie was called "Captain EO". It was displayed at Disneyland until April 7, 1997.
  • 1987 - the artist released the album Bad. The Michael Jackson songs on the disc are mostly ballads, but also a bit sad songs. The most important of them is "Bad", "Dirty Diana" and "I Just Can't Stop Loving You". The album sold 30 million copies, winning 8 times Platinum. That same year, Michael began his first solo tour, Bad World Tour. He was on tour for 16 months, giving 124 shows. Jackson was nicknamed "King of Pop."

That year it was noticed that the singer's skin was changing. As a child, Michael's skin was brown, but his skin began to turn whiter. Jackson explained that it was caused by vitiligo (a skin disease that loses its natural pigment). The singer used whitening creams and bright makeup to hide the progressive disease. The press, however, recognized that it was the result of the artist bleaching the skin. Michael Jackson began to undergo an increasing number of facial plastic surgeries in an attempt to keep his age. Over time, he became addicted to them. Despite numerous changes in appearance, Jackson constantly hypnotized with music, becoming the most famous artist in the history of show business.

  • 1991 - Jackson released the album Dangerous, the most popular of which was the hit "Black or White" - on the day of the premiere of the music video it was watched by over 500 million people.
  • 1993 - Michael Jackson performed at Super Bowl XXVII and later on the Oprah Winfrey Show, where he spoke about his skin condition. Later this year, the biggest scandal in the singer's career broke out. It was revealed that Jackson invites the children to his Neverland Valley Ranch estate and sexually molests them. However, the charge was dropped. In late 2008, Jackson sold Neverland Valley Ranch for $ 35 million.
  • 1994 - the singer married the daughter of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley. After two years, the couple broke up.
  • 1995 - King of Pop released the album HIStory: Past, Present, And Future. The promotional single was "Scream" recorded with Michael's sister, Janet Jackson. Another promotional song was "They Don't Care About Us". During the tour promoting this album, the singer also performed in Poland (for the first and last time).
  • 1996 - Michael married Deborah Jeanne Rowe. He had children - a son (Michael Joseph Jackson Junior) and a daughter (Paris Michael Katherine Jackson). After 3 years, the couple divorced. In the same year, Jackson performed the famous song "Earth Song" from the album HIStory, which aroused great controversy among musicians. A year later, Jackson released the album Blood on the Dance Floor, with remixes of songs from HIStory.
  • 2001 - Michael Jackson released the album Invincible, which reached number one on the charts in 13 countries. That same year, Jackson organized a concert to celebrate his 30 years of a musical career. The singer gave a lot of charity (including after the attack on the World Trade Center). In 2002, the musician received an award in Berlin for his charity work. It was then that the famous scandal happened when Michael went out on the balcony to show his third child (the boy Blanket Jackson) - putting his son behind the railing. In the year, Jackson's strange behavior towards children began to be scrutinized more closely.
  • 2003 - A Michael Jackson arrest warrant for child molestation charges was issued following a search of Neverland Valley Ranch. It was about Gavin Arvizo from the controversial documentary Living with Michael Jackson. Soon more allegations of child molestation emerged. The loud trial continued until 2005. Michael Jackson was acquitted, and the musician moved to Bahrain.
  • 2005 - Jackson planned more concerts, but it was difficult to finance them due to the willingness to introduce innovative technical solutions.
  • 2006 - Michael's label released the Visionary: The Video Singles box with the artist's most popular singles. This year, Jackson began re-appearing in the media after a high-profile child molestation scandal. He also received several more awards. The King of Pop moved to Las Vegas.
  • 2009/2009 - Michael Jackson was working on his next album. He planned a tour called This Is It. He even recorded a promotional video ("Dome Project"). However, the musician died 3 weeks before the official start of the tour.

At the very beginning, the siblings played only tambourines and congas, but over time the boys began to sing as well - when the Jackson father noticed their singing talent. Joseph stuffed Jermaine and Michael as lead vocals. It was then that the real, long-standing trauma of the music began. Whenever the band The Jackson 5 did something against his father's will, he was waiting for them with a belt in his hand. He would not let any of his siblings destroy the songs they composed inadvertently. The discipline held by the father was said to increase the popularity of the family band. Michael's age was only 6 at the time. It is not difficult to imagine how difficult these moments must have been for a sensitive boy. Lack of fun and constant discipline later had an unfortunate effect on the musician, which made his life, not at all cheerful and full of joy. In 2003, Michael's father confessed to hitting the band members of The Jackson 5 when they didn't listen to him. Michael Jackson's childhood was not easy, as was the case with many great artists of international renown (such as Tupac Shakur). A great deal is illustrated by the excellent documentary about Jackson's life, The Story of Michael Jackson (from 2009). This film shows the traumatic influence of childhood on the singer's later life. The Jackson house has never been easy. The house was so small that parents with children had to sleep in one bedroom. It was Katherine who devoted most of her time to her children, as the father had to earn money to support them all. The siblings slept on bunk beds, having previously practiced harmony before falling asleep. Michael in many interviews said that it was his mother who discovered his talent - his father apparently did not believe in him at all, so he could not believe that Michael sings well. Katherine heard her son sing one day and it turned out that she was right. Michael had tremendous singing talent.

Michael Jackson presented his childhood description very bluntly. He said that the popularity and discipline imposed by his father had taken his entire childhood away from him. He said that while practicing dance routines, his father often beat everyone not only with the belt but with everything he had at hand. The King of Pop has repeatedly emphasized that he was very afraid of his father. Whenever he saw him in the distance, he became very scared and worried that his father would hit him in a moment. Michael was very often beaten by Joseph because he was the main character in the band. That's why he got hit more often than his brothers. He shouted to his siblings that they should dance and do exactly what Michael did. It was because of this that the siblings soon began to turn their backs on Michael, blaming him for their father's wrath. The Jackson dad inflicted such deep psychological wounds on everyone that for a very long time none of the siblings could recover. Until the end of his life, Michael Jackson was traumatized by an unhappy childhood.

Michael has mentioned in interviews that his father often laughed at his skin problems. His complexion was not perfect and he suffered from acne - as is the case in teenagers. He also had a large nose that Joseph made jokes about. This hurt Michael a lot and later contributed to his numerous surgeries - although the correction of the nose started from the moment the singer's nose was damaged during the dance. Michael Jackson admitted that he disliked mirrors because of his father and that he did not like to look at them. He felt safe and confident only on stage, performing songs he wrote. The songs sung by the audience were something he loved and made him run away from himself.

Michael missed his lost childhood so much that he began to reveal the Peter Pan syndrome called by psychologists (e.g. during the purchase and expansion of the neverland fairy-tale ranch). Michael has been an adult boy all his life. Sam admitted that when he was in the recording studio and watched the children play across the street, he dreamed of being like them. Michael Jackson did not have a normal, happy childhood. He was lost and often acted like a child in his adult life. So the media started calling him Wacko Jacko, which means "crazy Jacko". Even the singer was accused of sexual abuse of children, but he refuted media allegations. He said that he simply loves children of all races and ages - because he still feels like such a child himself. He admitted that, inter alia, thanks to the children visiting his ranch, Neverland can have a childhood he has never experienced.

Michael worked a lot and hard as a child. He did not rest after school, but he had to go to the rehearsal immediately with the rest of his siblings. They often practiced choreography and vocals until late at night, which made everyone sleepy. Michael has also often mentioned in interviews that he did not always manage to eat a hot meal. All because of the pace imposed by his father, who wanted to make The Jackson 5 famous at all costs. Michael felt sad and very lost because of it all. He recalled that he had always watched children play with amazement and that he wanted the same carefree life. It was hard for him to imagine such enormous freedom.

Unfortunately, Jackson's father had other plans for his children. It was he who took care of the rehearsals, supervised the band, took the boys to talent contests, and publicized their music. More than once, Michael tried to oppose him, but to no avail. The more he rebelled, the more his father beat and humiliated him. Joseph Jackson was also accused by his daughter La Toyia of sexual harassment. She describes it in more detail in La Toya Jackson: The Naked Truth About My Family. In it, she mentioned the father's sexual abuse of children, physical training, and depriving them of sleep. Michael Jackson agreed with his sister's words and wanted the truth about the Jackson family to see the light of day one day. Joseph Jackson never pleaded guilty to acts worse than beating his children. He admitted to violence against children many years after Michael Jackson's solo success.

The subject of Jackson's marriage and children is as popular as Paul McCartney's wives and children. Many people wonder with whom and exactly how many children the King of Pop had. On November 14, 1996, Michael Jackson was in Australia, playing concerts. It was then in Sidney that he married Deborah Jeanne Rowe, his dermatologist. His wife bore him two children - on February 13, 1997, a son, Michael Joseph Jackson, Junior (Prince), and on April 3, 1998, a daughter, Paris, Michael Katherine Jackson. The marriage lasted until 1999, and the couple later divorced (October 8, 1999). Michael later claimed in interviews that Rowe bore his children as a kind of "gift" because she never wanted to have them or look after them herself. To this day, it is not known whether Prince and Paris were conceived naturally. Even though the couple claimed it to be so.

Michael Jackson saw Debbie Rowe at the Dermatology Practice because he was suffering from Vitiligo. Michael's ex-wife claimed that Jackson, after divorcing his former wife (Lisa Marie Presley), was very disappointed that she did not want to give him offspring. The dermatologist was passionate about the musician's history, so she decided that she could give him the children of her dreams. Deborah admitted after many years in the media that she had not had sex with Michael Jackson and had been artificially inseminated. There are also speculations that the marriage was helped by a surrogate. Others, however, believe that the couple could indeed conceive children naturally - albeit for their mutual benefit only. The singer wanted offspring at all costs, and Debbie Rowe wanted money. After the couple divorced, Rowe gave her ex-husband full custody of the children. She even admitted that she never changed her babies' diapers at night and didn't look after baby Prince and Paris. It was Michael Jackson who took care of the happiness, safety, and health of his children. Today, Michael Jackson's children are grown up.

Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., also known as Prince Jackson, is an American television personality and actor today. He is the eldest child of Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe. Jackson was named after his great-grandfather on Michael's side. Prince I spent most of his childhood at Neverland Valley Ranch, along with his younger siblings. In 2013, Prince Michael became a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. He made his debut as an actor in the television series 90210. Prince is interested in filming and works for a lot of charities. Prince I, his grandmother Katherine and the two siblings have been working together on a documentary in honor of Michael Jackson - but the project is on hold for the time being. Prince Michael Jackson I is 24 years old today.

Paris Jackson was born on April 3, 1998, in Beverly Hills (California). It was named in honor of Paris - the capital of France, where the daughter of the King of Pop was allegedly conceived. Paris Jackson was raised exclusively by her father, who was given full custody following his divorce from Debbie Rowe. Paris grew up on the Neverland Valley Ranch with her siblings. Michael Jackson asked Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin to be godparents to both Paris and her brother Prince.

In 2010, Paris Jackson, Katherine's grandmother, and her brothers were invited to Oprah Winfrey. They then gave an interview about the life after Michael Jackson's death. Paris and her brother Prince accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Grammy Awards on behalf of their father. In March 2017, Paris signed a modeling contract with IMG Models. Also in March 2017, Michael Jackson's daughter made her acting debut in FOX's Star and later in Gringo (2018). Together with musician Gabriel Glenn, she then created the musical formation The Soundflowers - last year they released their first EP (June 24, 2020). Today, Paris is an adult child of the King of Pop. Jackson's daughter is 22 years old.

Michael Jackson's third child, Prince Michael Jackson II (also known as Blanket), was born on February 21, 2002. He was probably born by a surrogate, as all known media reports indicate that Michael was not related to anyone at that time. Blake's mother is unknown. All fans know it very well and remember the moment when the musician visited Berlin to receive the award for his charity work. It was then that the famous scandal involving the King of Pop took place.

Michael Jackson came out on the balcony to show Prince II - his second son. He put it behind the balcony railing for fans to get a good look at the baby. He was holding it with one hand and the other was covering his face with a piece of blanket to protect it from the media. The musician protected all his children in this way for a long time, and the nickname of the second son came from the English word blanket. Following this incident, Michael Jackson was accused of endangering his children many times. However, the King of Pop has always insisted that he loves all his children more than life. And that he held Blanket really tight on that fateful day, so accusing him of endangering his son was only a provocation of the media. Prince Michael Jackson II is also an adult today - Blanket is 19 years old.

It is known that Michael Jackson's children rarely left Neverland Ranch. Whenever they left, they always wore blankets, masks, or were covered with handkerchiefs. The information came from behind the ranch gates that Michael Jackson's children live sterile - they eat healthy food from disposable packaging and must take care of disinfection. Despite speculation that the King of Pop didn't care about them at all behind the ranch gates, the opposite was true. The children were genuinely devastated by the departure of their father, considering him to this day as the most wonderful father you can imagine. They recalled cooking them porridge before work, buying them popcorn and cola when they went to the movies. They educated themselves with the babysitter Grace Rwaramba, but Michael often took the children to museums, bookstores, and theaters. He gave them a lot of freedom and always helped when something troubled them.

Of course, Michael Jackson's kids' birthdays and other holidays were celebrated at Neverland Valley Ranch. Attendees at these events confirmed that Paris, Blanket, and Prince I enjoyed themselves and laughed exactly like the other children. The three of them had a strong relationship with Dad, and Michael never lost his patience with them. He loved them very much until his death. The press is delighted with the children of Michael Jackson, who are not at all like the pampered children of other celebrities. All three are polite, wise, and helpful.

All of Michael Jackson's children are heirs to their father's fortune. The money is currently provided in the form of a family allowance. From year to year, children receive full access to the King of Pop's legacy in a slightly larger "dose". However, the entire fortune will not be transferred to them until they turn 40. According to American media reports, since 2014 Michael Jackson's child benefit has been equal to $ 8 million annually.

The history of the magic estate Neverland Valley Ranch, which was bought many years ago by the King of Pop Michael Jackson, is probably known to all music fans. The property's address is in Santa Barbara, California, namely Neverland Valley Ranch, 5225 Figueroa Mountain Rd, Los Olivos, CA 93441. The location of Michael Jackson's former estate is at the very edge of the Los Padres National Forest that beautifully surrounds the property. The ranch is best known for being the home and private amusement park of Michael Jackson - his own mainstay where Michael Jackson songs were sometimes written. The music ranch took up approximately 1,100 hectares of land.

Originally called the Zaca Laderas Ranch, it was later named Sycamore Valley Ranch when William Bone bought it in 1981. Bone moved there with his family and later commissioned an architect to design the main parts of the ranch and its most important decorations: a four-acre lake, a huge waterfall, numerous gardens, and a stone bridge. At first, he wanted to turn the mansion into a country club but ultimately did not happen.

Michael Jackson purchased the property in 1988. Then the musician changed it to Neverland, which in Polish means Neverland. The musician took the name from the fairy tale "Peter Pan" about a boy who never grows up. He himself felt like such a boy because he had failed to experience a happy childhood. Michael Jackson first saw the property in 1983, when he visited Paul McCartney on the set of the music video "Say Say Say". It was then that the artist became fascinated with the location of the ranch and its beauty so much that he decided that it would become his property one day. A few years later, that's exactly what happened - on March 13, 1988, the property became his private property. He purchased Neverland Valley Ranch for an estimated $ 17-30 million. The final purchase price has never been made public.

Michael Jackson was slowly expanding his beloved dream property. Photos on the Internet show how many objects were located on the property. Jackson created there, among others cinema and theater halls, room with computer games, dance hall, amusement park, zoo, flower clock, large garden sculptures, imitation of an Indian village and the Wild West, and many other interesting things. A horse-drawn carriage waited in front of the famous entrance gate, leading to the center of the huge estate. The ranch also had a lake and houses among the trees. The singer did not forget about the facilities for the disabled. Families and their children came to the estate - it was the latter that the musician thought about the most. He wished Neverland Valley Ranch would also become the home of all children. A magical place where dreams come true.

There was also a three-line railway on the property: the narrow-gauge "Neverland Valley Railroad" with a Katherine locomotive (in honor of Jackson's mother), a narrow-gauge railway with a replica of the C.P. Huntington, and a private electric train of the German brand Elektro-Mobiltechnik - Michael bought it for his children. The train was set up behind Neverland's main building. There were also children's castles, a Ferris wheel, a pirate ship, slides, roller coasters, cars, and secret rooms on the property. Michael Jackson's house has also become the site of, among others, Elizabeth Taylor's wedding with Larry Fortensky (1991) or the famous live interview with Oprah Winfrey (1993), in which he talked about his illness (albinism).

Many Michael Jackson songs were created in this magical place, and the singer finally had his dream refuge in which he rested in front of the world. The King of Pop really wanted his children to visit him, to make it a second home for them. He bought the property mainly with the youngest disadvantaged in mind, who could enjoy themselves here without borders. He wanted attractions at Neverland to benefit children with disabilities, the poor, or the sick. For them, a trip to Neverland Valley Ranch was the adventure of a lifetime - they could eat ice cream, sweets for free, play in the amusement park, ride the cable car and watch animals. In Michael Jackson's mansion, there was even a cinema with hospital beds where children could watch their favorite cartoons if they could no longer sit in normal cinema chairs. Some children stayed overnight at Neverland, so accusations of child molestation by Jackson began popping up (1993 and 2003). The youngest stayed there overnight, but only with the consent of their parents, contrary to what the media described.

In 2005, Michael Jackson decided not to return to Neverland Valley Ranch. Following a search of his property on allegations of molestation, he said he would never feel at home on his beloved farm again. Michael was exonerated, but the whole situation effectively "unlove" him from the Neverland Ranch. He never went back there. In 2006, all facilities operating there were closed and the majority of staff were laid off. The artist sold his beloved mansion to Sycamore Valley Ranch on November 10, 2008, for $ 35 million. However, he remained its shareholder until his death - later the shares were owned by the musician's heirs.

The King of Pop died on June 25, 2009, in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles. After repeated attempts at resuscitation, Michael could not be saved. The investigation into Jackson's death lasted two years. It is revealed that the musician died after being administered propofol by a personal physician (Conrad Murray). The doctor was found guilty of the manslaughter of Michael Jackson. According to Murray, he gave Jackson 25 mg of propofol for insomnia on the night he died. The substance can only be administered by anesthetists, usually as a general anesthetic during surgery. Intensive training is required to administer propofol - Michael Jackson's doctor did not have one. Conrad Murray was sentenced to 4 years' imprisonment, but after 2 years he was paroled.

The death of the beloved King of Pop was hard hit by the whole world. To this day, the singer is recognized not only as an outstanding musician but also as an influential dancer and social activist. The US Congress commemorated the deceased with a minute of silence, and the then-president (Barack Obama) offered his personal condolences to the entire family of Michael Jackson. The King of Pop's testament indicated that the children should be looked after by Katherine (Michael's mother) or Diana Ross (a musician's friend). The will completely exclude Deborah Rowe and Jackson's father, Joseph.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009. The media believed that the family wanted to bury the singer at Neverland Valley Ranch. It turned out, however, that they kept the real burial place of the King of Pop a secret for several years. The family promised him that he would keep the burial place secret from the world. It is known, however, that Michael's body was cremated and the ashes were scattered in his beloved place in Neverland - under a pear tree.

At the end of 2020, the property was bought by billionaire Ron Burkle for $ 22 million. He stated that he had only noticed Neverland Valley Ranch only recently from the air as he viewed other properties. He wants to treat the purchased property as a land bank. It is worth mentioning that the starting price for Michael Jackson's famous ranch was initially $ 100 million. However, it has fallen sharply year by year, largely due to the gradual removal of most of Neverland Valley Ranch's attractions (such as the zoo, electric train, or funfair).
