Is the story of the house near Działdowo true? Or maybe the haunted house is an idea created especially for the media? One thing is for sure. The mysteries of the haunted house in Turza Wielka intrigued the whole of Poland.
Haunted house near Działdowo - the most obsessed house in Poland?
It all started with the purchase of a sofa bed ...
A few years ago, the haunted house in Turza Wielka was one of the hottest topics in our country. All the media in Poland wrote about the ghost-haunted place, so Turza Wielka was still visited by reporters and journalists. At first, the Pokropski family who lived in the haunted house did not believe in ghosts. However, when she began experiencing their presence, she changed her mind quickly. True, one cannot believe in the supernatural. One may also believe that science is the best explanation for strange supernatural phenomena. However, one should certainly not ignore what happened in a former German house near Działdowo. Even the Ouija board and the Connecticut haunted house seem to be… calmer with it.
On November 23, 2017, the ghost that haunted the Pokropski family's apartment made itself known for the first time. It all started when the family bought a couch from their good friend. On the second day, the Pokropskis began to hear strange noises from outside. They also heard a knock on the door, but when they opened it, they saw no one behind them. As many as three families lived in the social building, which was built after the old school. The six-person Pokropski family lived in the attic of the old house. The neighbors have never encountered the paranormal phenomena described by the Pokropski family. Therefore, they believed that history could be created by Mrs. Krystyna Pokropska and her family. The whole was to be fueled by local media. How much truth is there and on whose side is it right? Hard to say. What is certain, however, is that the story does not end there yet. For the ghosts kept making themselves known.
A priest comes with the help ...
The knocking on the door wasn't the only sign from the ghosts. In the evenings, various items began to fall from the shelves at the Pokropski's. The family decided to wait out the paranormal events. She figured that someone might be making fun of them. However, history began to repeat itself. It was getting worse every day. Various things began to levitate around the apartment, such as coins, batteries, padlocks, and toys. One afternoon the Pokropskis also found knives that had been placed in the toilet at the sign of the cross. One day, water also started dripping from the ceiling, even though the roof was repaired and nothing was leaking from it. The Pokropski family, fearing for their lives and their children's lives, called the local parish priest, Father Mirosław Culepa from the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, to the house. The clergyman sacrificed the apartment, but it was completely useless. Objects were still flying around the apartment, and the spirit made itself known every day.
The Pokropski family again asked the priest to come to their apartment. Father Mirosław celebrated Mass for the family. After the recited prayer, one of the padlocks suddenly rose into the air and hit the priest directly in the head. After a while, blocks scattered around the apartment flew towards the priest, and the cross hung over the door turned. The clergyman escaped from the apartment of Mr. Kazimierz and Mrs. Krystyna. The priest ordered the family to leave the haunted apartment. The family obeyed him and went to sleep with their in-laws.

Exorcisms in the Pokropski haunted apartment
The situation in the Pokropski house was getting worse day by day. The evil spirit had a bad effect on both the psyche of the couple and their four children. There was no dry thread left on the twelve-year-old daughter of Kazimierz and Krystyna. Her peers pointed their fingers at her, and the girl had to give up school for several weeks. The Pokropskis decided to call the exorcist priest Leszek Korzeniecki - the pastor of the Christian Church ZOE from Węgorzewo to their apartment. The exorcist referred to himself as a Protestant, so the Catholic nomenclature did not refer to what he was doing. The pastor claimed that he had had the opportunity to experience similar cases before.
Did the exorcist's visit change anything in the life of the Pokropskis? Not really. Even though Korzeniecki talked to his family and prayed with them for the welfare of the house, objects still moved around in all rooms. The exorcist ordered the family to get rid of the sofa bed they purchased, but it still did not bring the desired results. The neighbors also began to notice that the lights in the Pokropskis' apartment were constantly on in the evenings - even though the family ran away again, this time finding refuge in Caritas.

Journalists did not manage to talk to the priest who was the first to say the prayer in the Pokropski house. The village mayor (Marek Waśkowiak) said that he had not seen with his own eyes what all of Poland was debating. However, he was told about the whole situation by his family and the priest whom the mayor trusted and believed. After delving into the history of the house, it was possible to obtain information that there was a school in the house of the Pokropski family almost a hundred years ago. Even earlier, the German heir Stern lived in this building. The oldest inhabitants of Turza Wielka believe that Stern gave the village land for the construction of a church and a cemetery. His only request was that people be buried in it for free.
This is not the only story around the house near Działdowo. Some residents believe that the Soviets murdered the German heir in the flat of the Pokropski family - it is possible because behind the haunted house there are still remains of tombstones, possibly belonging to Stern and his family. Still, others linked the history of the house with the possession of a little girl, which took place in Turza Wielka a year earlier. Apparently, she was playing summoning ghosts who decided to possess the girl. The family later moved outside the county and no one else saw them again. But what happened to the Pokropski family? They received a deposit of PLN 900 from the commune to rent a new flat. The Pokropski family insists that they will not return home to Turza Wielka because some spirit does not want them there.
Is the story of the haunted house near Działdowo true? It turns out that two other families live in the building where the ghost was haunted by the Pokropskis. Neither of them has ever experienced similar inconveniences that allegedly befell the Pokropski family. Neighbors in the same building believe that the ghost has never been heard or seen. Perhaps the ghost decided to haunt only one part of the house, and more specifically the attic where the Pokropski family lived?
Some inhabitants of Turza Wielka think that Kazimierz and Krystyna made up the story and it was said that… it was not their first lie. The Pokropski family allegedly deceived everyone in order to get a better apartment from the commune, because the "haunted" apartment simply did not meet the standard. Still, others confirm these words, saying that they saw the family trying to set fire to the building in order to get nicer social housing. It's hard to say who is right. However, it should be remembered that, as the famous saying goes, "each stick always has two ends."
